Why we come back

This place has the friendliest staff who truly care about your health and not the almighty dollar - I get a great overall body workout with so many options to choose from including an option for classes and pool! Can't say enough good things about South Shore- the price is right and actually inexpensive when you consider all the things this club offers! Recommend to everyone regardless of age or race, sex, or even size! I love it!!

"I love the adult swimming lessons at South Shore. I always knew how to swim, but I wanted to work on form and speed. Liz helped me accomplish my goal!"

-Heather Kolessar

"When we first joined South Shore, our oldest daughter who is now 6 was very fearful of the water. Within a year of working with Liz’s group in semi-private lessons, she was swimming laps with their instructional swim team. Our youngest daughter began in parent/tot classes at 16 months, and then started semi-private lessons and group lessons. She is now about half a year from swimming independently at the age of 3, and loves the water! I cannot say enough good things about the swimming programs at South Shore Health and Racquet Club!"

-Tiffany Wood

"The swim lessons at South Shore are awesome. I’m so impressed with the instructors and how much they genuinely care for each of my children's individual needs. It’s an added bonus that my kids are excited to come and learn. They have improved a tremendous amount from when they first started."

-EJ Banyon

"We’ve been incredibly satisfied with the South Shore aquatics program and Liz’s teaching style. Our group and private lessons are worth every penny. Liz had the perfect balance of tenderness when teaching and my 3 and 5 year olds. We adore her."

-Kelly Roche

"I am not a member of South Shore, however, I am taking tennis lessons from Mark. To open, the staff is very friendly and welcoming—they feel like family. The tennis lessons are amazing! Mark is very professional, friendly and kind. He brings everything to my level. What I love best is that he takes what I have, shows me a new style and works with me until I GET IT. In just 3 lessons, I understand the importance of the soft touch, the follow through and the finish. Tennis life is great at South Shore!"

"SSHRC has not only been a second home for me the past 17 years, but they have taught me valuable life lessons. The tennis staff has a unique way of renewing your passion for the game by their constant evolving instruction techniques. I owe the entire club staff (especially Mark Ficks) a world of gratitude for encouraging and supporting my pursuit of advanced level tennis at Hillsdale College. It’s been a very memorable tennis journey for me and my family."

- Lindsay Peirce

"SSHRC has been a huge part of our family’s life over the years. Swimming, working out, shooting hoops and playing tennis are many of the activities that brought us out to the club. The club’s staff always greets you with a friendly smile, a clean and updated facility and a large selection of activities and classes for all ages. Tennis has played the largest role for us by providing our kids with opportunities for private and group lessons, friendly competition and fun times. South Shore has been blessed to have some great tennis instructors over the years, but Mark Ficks, Director of Tennis, and his USPTA certified staff have taken the tennis program to new heights. The staff’s passion, enthusiasm and love of the game is evident with every lesson and clinic they teach. Whether they are encouraging a new student, instructing someone trying to make their high school team or working with a player fine-tuning their college level game, they teach accordingly. What they are ultimately teaching is learning how to play the game of tennis, which is something you can do for the rest of your life."

"South Shore coaches have instilled a love of tennis that will last a lifetime for our two boys. Both Mark and Dave have been instrumental in teaching life skills that are important on and off the court. From technical to motivational and tactical training, our boys are excelling both in high school and USTA tennis."
